Our design services cover the full spectrum—from conceptual design to feasibility studies and detailed technical execution projects—including technical support from the designer during the implementation phase of the project.
  • Documentation for obtaining permits and authorizations (including environmental studies, water management permits, impact assessments on water bodies, ANIF approvals, and railway authority permits).
  • Hydrological and Hydraulic Studies
  • Field Studies – Topographic and Geotechnical
  • Geological and Hydrogeological Studies
  • Expropriation documentation
  • Fluid dynamics – 3D numerical modeling and physical modeling for complex hydraulic challenges
  • Technical support from the designer throughout the execution phase
  • Supervision of design and construction works to ensure adaptation to site conditions
  • BIM-based design (Building Information Modeling)
  • Preparation of As-Built Design documentation
  • Development of Health and Safety Plans and Quality Plans
  • Integrated coordination by the designer throughout the execution phase

Our mission is to provide clients with high-quality services and reliable results at competitive prices, ensuring creativity in finding optimal and modern solutions, while fostering a strong spirit of teamwork among our employees and collaborators.

We approach each day with a commitment to creativity, adaptability, integrity, and determination. 1953 – The Institute for the Design of Hydraulic Structures (I.P.C.H.) is established, incorporating the majority of specialists from the former Study and Design Department of the General Directorate of the Danube–Black Sea Canal.

1959 – The institute is renamed the Institute for Hydraulic Planning and Construction (I.P.A.C.H.) and comes under the authority of the State Water Committee (C.S.A.). During this time, it expands its activities to include the development of hydrographic basin management plans. The design of hydraulic structures grows to encompass dams and reservoirs. A significant development during this period is the emergence of the concept of integrated hydrographic basin development—a concept widely adopted and routinely applied in the design of investment projects for hydraulic works.

1976 – The institute is renamed the Research and Design Institute for Water Management (I.C.P.G.A.) and operates under the authority of the National Water Council (C.N.A.).

1991 – The institute becomes a joint-stock company under the name AQUAPROIECT S.A. On this occasion, it broadens its design and study activities into the fields of water supply and sewerage infrastructure. It now covers key engineering disciplines including: topographic surveys, geotechnical investigations, hydrological studies, hydraulic modeling, environmental studies, river management and stabilization, dam and reservoir construction, flood protection, hydroelectric power, civil engineering, roads and bridges, irrigation, waste management, water supply, and sewerage—adapting to the increasingly diverse demand for services in both the Romanian and international markets.

Aquaproiect is a founding member of the National Commission for Dam Safety and Hydraulic Structures (CONSIB).

Additionally, the company is an active member of numerous technical committees within key government ministries, including:

  • Interstate Technical Committees for the coordination and alignment of flood defense programs and strategies in transboundary river basins, alongside representatives from the National Administration “Romanian Waters” and the Ministry of Environment and Water Management;
  • The Romanian National Committee on Irrigation and Drainage;
  • The Romanian Association for Land Reclamation and Rural Construction;
  • Global Water Partnership – official partner;
  • Member of ANHR (National Association of Hydropower Engineers in Romania) – Aqua Nostra. This association includes both local and international companies with interests in the energy sector, as well as renowned professionals in the field.
